Daniel J. Downer
Daniel J. Downer (He/Him) is a dynamic community activist with a profound legacy in Central Florida’s LGBTQ+ movement. Blending his lived experiences as a Black Queer man with a rich educational and professional background, Daniel champions movements in Central Florida focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the co-creator and Advisory Council Member of the Black Boardroom Leadership Institute, he pioneers a unique leadership training program uniting nonprofit organizations and leaders. This initiative guides culture change, striving to create inclusive environments and amplify diverse voices on boards.
Daniel also serves as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant at Authentic Culture & Engagement Solutions, Inc., providing clients with tailored guidance and solutions to navigate the complex terrain of inclusion, diversity, equity, and engagement.
Throughout his career, Daniel consistently fights systemic barriers for marginalized communities, prioritizing coalition building, meaningful connections, and mutual learning as essential tools for societal transformation. He envisions a world where everyone is affirmed, bringing the most marginalized closer to justice and liberation.
